MILTON ROY Mixing, French leader of agitation founded more than one century ago, is manufacturing process mixers for many industries, particularly for hydrometallurgy, fertilizers and water treatment industries.

MILTON ROY Mixing designs, manufactures and sells customized and standard agitators and mixers products. MRM exports 80% of its production, mainly to the North African countries, the Middle East, India, China and South America. MRM is ranked amongst the top 10 agitator suppliers worldwide.

MRM develops and implements solutions with various partners. The company also performs lab tests, semi industrial demonstration and proposes a solid know-how in various processes in hydrometallurgy as well as in chemical industries.

Moreover, MRM has developed expertise in using Computational Fluid Modelling for allowing improvements in reactor design, optimizing process and proposing accurate solutions as close as possible to real industrial cases.

MRM is also equipped with a new lab. Various dimensions of tanks are installed (50 l, 100 l, 500 l, 3,000 l). Three phase flows can be performed in these tanks. Different measuring devices are available in the lab.

Status: Industrial institution under the joint supervision of the ACCUDYNE group.

Staff: around 50 in France (2012) / Turnover: €19 million (2012)

Work packages

  • Work package 2: Active participation in task 2.5: Technical and scientific contribution. The mixer technology for this research program is innovative and MRM experience is relevant in this field. MRM's know-how in hydrometallurgy and its capacity to define new product in collaboration with other industrial partners will be helpful in this research group. Another subject handled by MRM is the development and design of an innovative bioreactor based on a novel mixing device and the use of alternative gas mix to air, including modelling hydrodynamics and material behavior for the pilot scale.

EcoMetals is a transnational research project aiming at the development of innovative biohydrometallurgical processes for the extraction of copper and other (associated) metals from coppershale.. The project receives funding from the French ANR (L’Agence nationale de la recherche) and the German Ministry of Education and Research BMBF (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung) under the reference number 033RF001.

In total, 17 partners from science and industry collaborate in this project. Start of the project was in February 2014 and it will run until June 2017.
